1PCS Web Design MD Categorically Wins Golf Competition

Filed under: 1PCS Web Design Team News, Exhibitions & Events — 1PCS Web Design @ 4:01 pm

Duncan Accepting Shield From AndyDuncan Webster, Northamptonshire based web design company 1PCS’s Managing Director swept up all the trophies at Northants Chamber Thorpeness golf competition.

Here is the breakdown:

Friday 11th June

A grey, windy landscape greets the members of the Northants Chamber Golf Society and their guests for the weekend, Nick Turner (son of ‘you know who’!) and James Greenall (friend of ‘you know who’!!). A quick lunch and it was out onto the course for the first day’s individual Stableford.

This results in a three-way tie at the top between Captain Cockerill, guest Greenall and ‘the webmaster’ himself, Duncan Webster, eventually decided in favour of Duncan on count-back. Returning to the scene of last year’s victory, the emotion of the day proves too much for defending Stanair Shield Champion Martin Wall, who limps home at the back of the field. Ian lives up to his name, winning the longest drive by ‘Leathering’ the ball 280 yards into the wind, whilst Mike Willis is spotted on his hands and knees crawling into a gorse bush!

Prize giving follows dinner, with Martin awarded the Sombrero for ‘handicap protection’. The mystery pairs draw bails out a few under achievers! On to the games room, where the wide brim of his multi coloured hat proves no hindrance to Senor Wall’s performance on the snooker table.  Whilst he is potting everything in sight, over in the corner Keith ‘The Power’ Turner reigns supreme at the dartboard!!

Saturday 12th June

A few bleary faces at breakfast but a ‘full English’ does the trick; Better-ball pairs today. Still the wind blows and low scoring is predicted but at least we see the first hint of some sunshine. Unfortunately, this also triggers the appearance of Doug Iles’ legs and, in keeping with his title of Best Dressed Golfer at last year’s event, a natty pair of shorts.

Scoring is better than expected, but again it’s tight at the top; Doug and his partner Captain Cockerill, registering the same score as Ian ‘Long Drive’ Leather and Nick ‘The Son Of’ Turner. On count-back, Doug and the skipper eventually prevail. James wins nearest the pin (again), whilst Nick Turner is ‘Sombrero man’ for the evening; awarded both for his performance on the back 9 and for stealing the Long Drive prize from the captain!

St George’s flags are distributed and the plasma TV in the hotel bar is annexed by the Society (plus one mystery interloper sporting a beard and glasses!). It’s England in the World Cup, so we should expect the worst (and get it!). It all proves too much for James and Keith, who are seen to nod off mid way through the 2nd half – maybe that bottle of dessert wine wasn’t such a good idea after all chaps!! More fun and games in the snooker room and Brice The Vice’s iphone proves a constant stream of amusement, with comedy clips galore. A few slope of to bed, whilst the hard-core element decamps to Wall and Webster’s luxury patio area for an early morning glass of rioja!

Sunday 13th June

Weary but expectant faces at breakfast, with both the Stanair Shield and T&K cup up for grabs. Captain Cockerill tops the Leader Board going into the final round with Iles, Webster and Turner Jnr hard on his heels. Again the wind blows and it all proves too much for the weary skipper, as his normally straight driving completely deserts him. Webster meanwhile proves the old addage ‘Beware the Injured Golfer’; his daily hot bath routine, to ease his creaking joints, and steady iron play bringing him home in a best of the day 31 points; this secures the T&K Cup.

The overall totals for the 3 days are then added up. Cockerill has blown it and has to console himself with a commemorative long-drive pitch-mark repairer. James Greenall wins nearest the pin (again) and we arrange for Thorpeness to rename the 7th hole after him. Runner-up overall is the sharp-dressing Doug Iles, but it’s that man Duncan Webster again that scoops the Stanair shield for a well-deserved double. The Sombrero really suits him!!

The weekend’s main booby prize goes to Brice ‘the Vice’. At first he is delighted to learn that he has won a lesson with a European Tour Pro, but less so when Captain Cockerill hands him his Justin Rose ‘Play Better Golf’ Interactive DVD. Mike Willis is presented with a ball retriever to avoid any further repeats of Friday’s gorse related incident. Pink balls for Turner (Snr) and Ian Leather….enough said chaps!!

Big Thanks to 1PCS for Promotional Video Project

Filed under: 3D Modelling, Video Production — 1PCS Web Design @ 11:00 am

We recently completed a video production project on behalf of APS Promotions. Richard of APS Promotions is a fellow member of Andrew’s BNI chapter: lighthouse.

Here is the testimonial he gave us:

Dear Andrew

Reference: Animated video

I am writing to thank you for the superb animated video that you produced for us on behalf of one of our biggest customers; this was more impressive because not only was the subject a complex valve used in the Oil and Gas Industry; but you had less than two weeks to produce it in time for OTC Houston: the biggest Oil and Gas Trade show in the world.

Everything about the way you produced this was highly professional from the initial brief that we gave you, through regular progress updates and an impressive attention to detail right down to the background music. Even with a tight deadline combined with the importance of the job there was never any panic, and from the time that we initially discussed this with you we were confident of a good job.

I am pleased to say that the reaction from our customer has been fantastic and two typical comments are below:

“Just viewed the animation. Phenomenal….. and the music is perfect and fabulous!”
USA Marketing Manager

‘The best piece of marketing material used by this company for a very long time
UK Sales Director

In fact everyone that has seen it has been highly complementary and I would like to thank you and the team that you worked with, Duncan, Rob and Ben for making our customer a very happy one.

Stanair’s New Website is Live!

Stanair Industrial DoorsStanair Industrial Doors have been a client of 1PCS Web Design & search Engine Optimisation since 2003 when we redesigned their website for the first time.

Since then we have kept their web site up to date and in the search engines and in 2005 we redesigned the website once again.

We have now redesigned the website for the 3rd time. This time we really wanted to bring the website up-to-date. We have utilised the space of the home page in a whole different way to really sell the benefits of using Stanair Industrial Doors.

We also created a new customer relationship system that is plugged into this website, organising enquiries from the forms on the website, allowing Stanair to manage queries from customers, tracking the status of queries and the outcomes of contact with customers and potential customers.

Costa Rica / Rotating Product Websites Go Live This Week!

Two websites live this week.

The first website we have created for a young man one of Duncan’s fellow BNI Collingtree member David Shrewsbury is taking an active part in promoting and helping in Costa Rica.

The site: http://www.costaricanaturaladventures.com/ has been set up to entice visitors to book the young man Odir to guide them on one of 4 fantastic tours encompassing volcanoes, spectacular waterfalls, great rivers and wetlands. The tours vary in length and can include opportunities to see a wide variety of interesting flora and fauna.

The second website is to promote a service we are now fully promoting providing rotating products for use on websites; particularly ecommerce websites; to really sell a product visually to consumers.

360 product rotations increase product sales through better conversion rates; it prolongs visiting durations and reduces product returns as buyers know what they are getting. You can really get an edge over your competitors and take a serious market share for your product.

You can visit the rotating products website here: http://www.rotatingproducts.co.uk/

1PCS Goes on their Christmas Party!

After having to reschedule our Christmas party twice because of the inclement weather over the Christmas period we finally managed it on February the 4th 2010.

The 1PCS Web Design team were joined by Jamie Lumsden of Vision SME on a trip to Robin Hood country as we zipped around Sherwood Forest on off-road Segway machines.

Even though the experience is quite alien to start with the whole team took to it very quickly and were soon racing around to our hearts content.

Training was followed by a little relay race cometition divided between the older and the younger members of our party. We won’t mention who won!

We then try laser clay pidgeon shooting where the competition was a little closer. Before taking to the dirt trails on the segways once again.

Duncan Webster our MD said about the day:

“I thought when we did sky diving one year, that this was as much fun as we could have at a Christmas do, howver the competitive challenge of racing each other proved to be a unexpected success!

I thought it would be tough enough trying to balance let alone race each other!

I think everyone surprised themselves, everyone did better than they thought they would”

Brackmills Industrial Estate Website Goes Live

Brackmills Industrial Estate commisioned us to design and build a content managed system to manage an internet portal which we designed to promote the infrastructure and benefits of Brackmills Business and Logistics Park: Operating both day and night, to support industry in one of the top growing towns in the UK. This is part of an overall initiative to promote and improve the Brackmills Industrial Estate.

To re-establish Brackmills Industrial Estate as the UK’s premier business and logistics park required a forward thinking, market leading website.  Given the business and logistic focus, we created interactive maps that are highly professional and easy to use.  As with all industrial estates the route to and around the estate are paramount so we devoted a lot of effort and resources into making this part of the website first class.

The website also includes a directory of all the businesses involved in the Brackmills Industrial Estate initiative. This comprehensive listing also feeds directly into the map so you can find said companies quickly and easily.

Other facilities integrated in to the website includes news and events. A very accurate implementation of Google maps for business locations and a route planning facility associated with that. Job vacancies within Brackmills Industrial Estate. A great emphasis is placed on travel, with a lot of cooperation with transport agencies.

1PCS Has a New Team Member!

Filed under: 1PCS Web Design Team News — 1PCS Web Design @ 2:49 pm

1PCS Web Design has a new team member (of sorts).

Scooby the Beagle now lives with us at our Northamptonshire based head quarters.

Scooby is 11 weeks old; born on the 14th of July 2009. Other than dog food, he likes to eat quilt covers, buttons, grass, socks, cheese, bread and anything he can get hold of really.

UPDATE (March 2010): Having said that his obedience training is coming along well, he will sit, stay and walk to heal fairly well and will also leave treats on the floor in front of him until he is told he can have it.

Scooby is doing his best to fill the hole left by the loss of 1PCS’ previous ‘mascot’ Charlie the black cocker spaniel.
